Glenan Bay is just round the coast from ferry terminal at Portavadie. You can follow the forest path there and come back via the coastal path. Both lead you through beautiful native oak woods. The moss-covered rocks and caves offer shelter for plants and wildlife. Bluebells carpet the ground in springtime, supporting lots of butterflies and there are red squirrels, nightjars and dragonflies in the woods.
Follow the forest path up and the coastal path back. If you carry on up the forest path past Glenan, you?ll come to a deserted village. The village has a clear view over Loch Fyne and has a haunting atmosphere.
Glenan Bay is a lovely spot for a picnic. There?s lots of driftwood to light a wee fire and a fresh water burn at the far end of the bay.
