Secret Sunset Spots

Watching the sun set on Loch Fyne or the Kyles of Bute is the perfect end to a perfect day on Argyll?s Secret Coast. Here we share some of our secret spots for watching the sunset.

As the sun sets in the west, head to the many secluded beaches or restaurants along the eastern shores of Loch Fyne. The Oystercatcher is a fabulous spot for a sunset drink. With a pint of Highlander in your hand, enjoy the panoramic view towards the north and south of Loch Fyne as the sun sets.

Further round the coast at Ardlamont, take a ten-minute walk into Ostell Bay and watch a breathtaking sunset illuminate the nearby isle of Arran. The Sleeping Warrior is arguably at its best from this angle; it?s clear to make out the head, chest and feet. The beach is usually deserted. Take the dog, paddle in the shallow waters or relax with a picnic and chilled bottle of wine as you unwind in the company of porpoises and seabirds.

Portavadie Marina is another top spot for a sundowner. Sit on the terrace and watch the boats sail in.

Watch the sun go down over Bute from the Colintraive Hotel where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll or a drink in the garden. Watch the ferry chug back and forth on one of Britain?s shortest ferry crossings while the farm animals graze in the nearby lochside fields.
