The views are the wow factor on Argyll?s Secret Coast. The sheer majesty of the land blows people away and brings them back here again and again. You?ll probably find your own favourite view while you?re out and about, but to get you started here are some of ours.
The view from Tighnabruaich offers a magical blend of coastline, sea and sky. You can see four islands from the shoreline: Bute is directly across the Kyles and Inchmarnock, Arran and Holy Island are to the South. Climbing to higher ground, along by the viewpoint you?ve a view of the Burnt Islands, where the Vikings buried the dead after the Battle of Largs in 876.
In the east Kyle, Tighnabruaich faces south-east, so the sun rises over Bute in the morning and the moon will rise at night. When the moon is full you can walk along the shore road bathed in its silvery light. Very occasionally you can watch the sunset and then a little later you may be lucky enough to see the moon rising.
The view from Ostell Bay is stunning. Looking south, Arran sometimes seems to float is a sea of mist.
If you walk up the hill behind the Colintraive Hotel, you get a magnificent view of Bute, Arran, Kintyre and the Ayrshire coast.
