Every year nearly 2,000 boats make the journey along the nine miles of "Britain's most beautiful shortcut". The Crinan Canal was once a vital commercial connection with the Western Isles, and links Loch Fyne at Ardrishaig with the Sound of Jura.
Sail the length of the canal, enjoy the activity of a whole series of locks and take in the stunning Argyll and Bute scenery. A walk along the tranquil towpath from Crinan to Ardrishaig provides the perfect opportunity to take in the stunning views.
Crinan is a lovely spot to stop for coffee and cake and watch the boats go through the lock.
