Kyles Festival 2015 - the low-down

Kyles Festival 2015 - the low-down
Kyles Festival just got bigger! The festival started life as weekend of live music in the pubs and hotels of Kames and Tighnabruaich. This year it?s grown into a week-long shindig celebrating the very best of Argyll?s Secret Coast.

Taking place from 1st to 7th June, the festival showcases all the different things to do and see in the area, including art, walking, drama, nature, wildlife, fishing, sailing, crafts, coastal rowing, food and drink. Live music is still a big part of the festival, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday will see a mix of local talent and well as up-and-coming Scottish bands playing in the pubs, hotels and cafes.

Music
Most of the festival?s live music takes place on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday so you can let you hair down and enjoy the party. You?ll find a mix of local talent as well as up-and-coming Scottish bands. There?s a distinctly blues/folk/Americana vibe with a dose of good old rock and roll. The gigs take place in the pubs, hotels and cafes of Tighnabruaich and Kames and they?re FREE. What?s not to like? Some of the bands confirmed so far include John Deery and the Heads, Kantrio, Junkman?s Choir and The Groucho Session.

Art & drama
The beautiful landscape and light of Argyll?s Secret Coast have inspired generations of artists and craftspeople. Many creative people have chosen to live and work here and there?s a vibrant, lively cultural scene. Tighnabruaich Gallery will be holding a special exhibition throughout the festival week and there are other exhibitions and shows being planned.

Crafts & workshops
Fancy learning a new skill? Our local artists and makers will show you how. From painting to spinning, the festival is a great opportunity to try something new and get inspired in beautiful surroundings. Local artist Jim Owens will be running a painting workshop in collaboration with the Millhouse Art Group while Fiona at Carry Farm will show you how to spin.

Walking
Join our local guides and explore the lochs, hills and coastline of this beautiful part of the world on foot. From short coastal strolls to forest rambles, these walks are a great way to spot wildlife, discover the area?s history and enjoy the great outdoors. Take a walk to the deserted village at Glenan, a walking tour of Dunan?s Castle or a walk through Kilfinan Community Forest. Or how about bringing your dog along for the Big Dog Walk?

Food & drink
Argyll?s Secret Coast offers a true taste of the Highlands. The festival showcases our many producers and the fabulous cafes, restaurants and hotels that dot the coastline. The tapas and music night at the Barn at Milllhouse is already filling up fast.

Watersports & fishing
Argyll?s Secret Coast is bordered by Loch Fyne and the Kyles of Bute. These two beautiful stretches of sea loch offer fantastic opportunities for all sorts of water-based activities. Have a go at rowing a skiff, take part in a mini coastal rowing regatta, try your hand at sailing, take a fast RIB ride or enter a fishing competition. Plus it?s Tighnabruaich Sailing School?s 50th anniversary, and there are plenty of celebrations planned.

See you there!
